Bill McCann has over 30 years of experience in public policy and advocacy. He has served as the Executive Director of the United States Footwear Manufacturers Association (USFMA) since 2019, whose mission is to promote, strengthen, and expand footwear manufacturing and its supply chain within the United States. Working with Congress and the U.S. Army, USFMA has created the first-ever military footwear research and manufacturing technology program. In addition, he is President and Chief Executive Officer of SMI Inc., a multi-client government affairs firm focusing on national security, industrial base, and critical technologies-focused issues.
 
Prior to leading USFMA, Mr. McCann led the advocacy effort to pass a law that expanded the U.S. Military’s Berry Amendment to include athletic shoes issued to all recruits in basic training.
 
He holds a bachelor of arts in American government from Georgetown University and a master of business administration from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan.
