Myra Arshad is Chief Executive Officer & Co-founder of Alt Tex, a Toronto-based biomaterials startup that has developed the first biodegradable and carbon neutral fabric, engineered from the world’s largest landfill contributor — food waste.
 
Prior to Alt Tex, Ms. Arshad held corporate roles in sales and marketing at Fortune 500 companies, most recently at Procter & Gamble, a multinational consumer goods corporation, before founding Fluidic, a women’s empowerment social enterprise.
 
With over $3 million in funding and backed by startup accelerator company Y Combinator, Ms. Arshad is now working with her team to scale the technology as they work to take the polyester-replacement technology global in the coming years.
