Theanne Schiros is an educator and materials scientist whose research focuses on developing high-performance, regenerative materials for a circular economy — especially biotextiles.
She is an Associate Professor at the Fashion Institute of Technology, a Research Scientist at Columbia University and Co-founder and Chief Science Officer at Werewool, a biotech startup engineering proteins to create biodegradable textile fibers with DNA-programmed color and performance-like stretch and waterproofing.
 
Dr. Schiros has been engaged in international sustainable development and education since 2005, including solar photovoltaics, the design of zero-waste communities, and women empowerment through education and entrepreneurship in natural dyes and textile arts.
