Ross McBee, PhD, is Co-founder and Chief Science Officer of TomTex, where he has led the technical development of the company’s groundbreaking next-gen biomaterial. He has experience across a broad range of scientific and engineering disciplines, including material characterization, fabrication, electronics, and molecular, cell, and synthetic biology. In addition to academic work, he has collaborated with numerous artists on bioart and engineering projects and has published in both the arts and scientific literature.
Mr. McBee earned his doctor of philosophy with Professor Harris Wang at Columbia University, working on understanding and engineering multicomponent living systems through synthetic genomics and engineered living materials. He received dual bachelor degrees in cell/cellular and molecular biology and Plan II Honors from The University of Texas at Austin.
