Adriano Goldschmied, known as the “Godfather of Denim”—a name given to him by Italian journalist Franca Sozzani, earned this title from working for more than 50 years in the denim industry. With his thirst for indigo, he has pioneered new techniques and styles, but most importantly, has revolutionized how the world looks at—and wears—denim.
He has founded some of the most successful and recognizable denim brands in the world, including Daily Blue, Diesel, Goldie, A Gold E, Replay, AG Adriano Goldschmied and Goldsign. Some of his most notable achievements include the stonewash technique, the experimentation and use of Tencel fibers, creating unprecedented super stretch denim, and most importantly, starting the conversation and implementation of sustainable and circular methods in the denim industry as early as the ‘90s.
